The experience
The Indian River Lagoon is one of the most biodiverse areas in the northern hemisphere, and a kayak puts you at eye level with what lives there. You'll paddle for two hours with a guide who knows where dolphins surface, where manatees rest, and what birds and fish move through the shallows. The guide shares facts about their habits and habitats as you glide through the water: the kind of detail that turns a sighting into understanding. Bring a camera. The moments when a dolphin leaps or a manatee surfaces are the ones you'll want to keep.
Two tour types run here. The guided wildlife tour operates year-round and focuses on the creatures and ecosystems of the lagoon itself. The bioluminescence tour runs May through August and takes you out to watch dinoflagellates and comb jellies create a natural glow in the dark water. A seasonal phenomenon that only happens in these months. Both tours include the kayak and life vest, plus water and bug spray to keep you comfortable on the water.
What’s included
- Kayak and life vest.
- water and bug spray.
