Indian River Kayaking: Manatees, Dolphins & Clear-Bottom Views
Paddle among manatees and dolphins on Florida's Indian River
Kayak or paddleboard the Indian River with a live guide, spotting West Indian manatees, bottlenose dolphins, comb jellies and wading birds in their natural habitat. The 90-minute tour includes your kayak or board, paddle, life jacket and dry bags; photos are emailed within 48 hours. Best wildlife viewing happens on the 9 am and 12 pm departures, especially during manatee mating season (March–August). Children from age 2 are welcome, and the guide speaks English.
The Experience
You'll spend 90 minutes paddling the Indian River, a waterway known for its clear water and steady wildlife presence. The tour includes a brief instruction before you launch, so beginners and experienced paddlers both start the same way. You choose between a kayak (single or tandem, up to 350 lbs per person) or a paddleboard (up to 280 lbs), and the operator provides your paddle, life jacket and dry bags for your phone and wallet. Bare feet are required in the clear-bottom kayaks—no shoes allowed—so you'll feel the water and the riverbed beneath you.
Wildlife on the Indian River includes bottlenose dolphins, West Indian manatees (most active March through August), wading birds and comb jellies. The 9 am and 12 pm tours are timed for the best viewing, though wildlife is never guaranteed since you're paddling through their natural habitat. A guide leads the group and handles the route; you operate your own kayak or board. Photos are taken during the tour and emailed or texted to you within 48 hours at no extra cost.
Free parking is available at the launch site, and bathrooms are on-site. After you book, the team will text and email you to confirm your gear, provide directions and send waiver links so you can sign ahead of arrival. Life jackets fit children from 30 lbs up; infants sit on an adult's lap. Bring plenty of water, sunscreen, a wide-brimmed hat, bug spray and a towel—the sun and bugs are real on the water, and you'll want to dry off after.

Single and tandem kayaks accommodate up to 350 lbs per person; paddleboards have a 280 lb limit. Life jackets are available for anyone 30 lbs and up.
When should I book to see manatees on the Indian River?
