The experience
This is a 6-hour introduction to outdoor rock climbing designed for people who've never climbed outside or who've only climbed in a gym. You'll work with a dedicated instructor who teaches the specific skills that transfer from indoors to real rock: how to belay safely, which knots hold, how your body moves differently on stone than on plastic, and the fundamentals that let you climb independently. The class covers belaying, climbing movement and technique, knots and hitches: the things that actually matter when you're on a cliff.
All the gear you need is included: harness, helmet and climbing shoes. The instructor brings the ropes, anchors and safety equipment. You show up ready to learn in a positive space where the focus stays on building your skills and your confidence, not on how fast you climb or how high you go. You'll build relationships with other beginners in the same boat, which matters because outdoor climbing is safer and more fun when you trust the people you're with.
Blairstown is in northwestern New Jersey, and public transportation options are available nearby if you don't have a car. Bring 2–3 liters of water, snacks, and whatever personal comfort items you need for a morning or afternoon outside. You're responsible for getting yourself to the location. The instructor handles everything that happens once you arrive.
What’s included

- harness, helmet and climbing shoes.
- all ropes and safety equipment.
