The experience
What does it take to rappel safely down a cliff? This class teaches you the fundamentals hands-on: how to wear and adjust your harness, how to manage the rope, how to control your descent speed, and how to trust the equipment. An experienced guide walks you through each step before you clip in, so you're not learning by trial and error 50 feet up. The instruction is live and in English, and the guide stays with you through every descent.
You'll make multiple descents on a series of cliffs, starting smaller and working up to the full 100-foot drop if you're ready for it. The park setting means you're surrounded by natural scenery while you're learning, not in a gym or an artificial wall. All the gear you need (harness, helmet, climbing shoes) is included, so you show up ready to work. The whole experience runs 2–3 hours, which gives you time to get comfortable with the basics and actually feel the difference between your first descent and your last.
You'll need to arrange your own transportation to the location and bring 2–3 liters of water and any snacks you want during the class. The guide will tell you what to expect physically before you start, and the work itself is real (you're managing your own body weight on a rope), but the instruction is built for people new to rappelling. Moderate fitness is the baseline. If you have spinal issues, heart concerns or are pregnant, this isn't the right fit.
