The experience

The driver picks you up in a comfortable pedicab and takes you through Central Park's most photographed spots: Bethesda Terrace with its ornate ceiling (featured in Home Alone, John Wick and Gossip Girl), Bow Bridge built in 1859 (Spider-Man, Big Daddy), and the carousel, the oldest in the city. You pass the neighborhoods bordering the park (Upper East Side and Upper West Side), and see the locations where films were shot.

Three stops break up the ride. At Cherry Hill and the Lake, you step out and walk. At Strawberry Fields, the memorial to John Lennon, you have enough time to take photographs and stand in the space. The guide points out the Dakota building where Lennon lived and the spot where he was assassinated, Tavern on the Green, and Sheep Meadow. Roosevelt Island appears in the distance. The bridge there is from the snowball fight scene in Elf.

The pedicab does the work of moving between stops, which means an hour covers ground a walking tour would stretch into two or three. Infants and small children can ride in a stroller. Service animals are welcome. The guide speaks English or Japanese depending on the departure you choose.
