Sapphire Point comes next — a short trail that opens onto Lake Dillon with three mountain ranges visible at once. After that, you roll into Breckenridge itself, the historic mining town turned ski resort, and you have time to walk Main Street, grab lunch on your own, browse the shops, or ride the ski gondola up the mountain if it's running (it operates during ski season and June through Labor Day). On the drive back to Denver, you pass through the Eisenhower Tunnel, one of the world's highest vehicular tunnels at 11,158 feet, carved straight through solid granite.
