Two dives, two different sites, your pick of the marine life

A two-tank scuba dive for certified divers on Kaua'i's southwest side, departing at 7am from Kikiaola Small Boat Harbor and returning around noon. You dive a deeper ledge or arch first, then a reef site second, choosing from over 20 locations to match the wildlife or topography you want to see. All scuba and snorkeling gear is included and fitted at the harbor before departure.

The experience

Meet at Kikiaola Small Boat Harbor at 7am. The operators (a husband-and-wife team who run one dive a day) fit your gear at the dock before you board, so you don't need to coordinate a second meeting spot. You bring your certification card and logbook. They provide the rest. Free parking sits in the field to the right when you pull in.

The southwest side of Kaua'i holds over 20 dive sites, and you tell them what you're after: sea turtles, reef sharks, coral formations, octopus, mantis shrimp, nudibranchs, lobsters or the reef fish that move through the shallows. The first dive usually hits a deeper ledge or arch. The second explores a reef. The boat gets back to the dock around noon, so the whole outing runs roughly five hours. Because they run only one tour daily and work at island pace, there's no clock pressure to move faster than the dive itself allows.

Bring your certification cards, logbook, hat, sunglasses, reef-safe sunscreen and a jacket for the surface interval, especially in winter months. A three-diver minimum runs the tour, and you'll need your own transportation to the harbor.

What’s included

  • Use of scuba equipment and snorkeling equipment.
  • restroom access.
  • drinks and snacks.

Top questions

What happens if it rains?

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.

What kind of marine life will I see on the southwest side of Kaua'i?

The southwest side is abundant with sea turtles, reef sharks, coral, sponge, mantis shrimp, octopus, tropical reef fish, nudibranchs, lobsters and shrimp. With over 20 dive sites to choose from, you can request specific wildlife or topography and the operators will take you to the site that matches what you want to see.

Do I need to bring my own scuba gear?

All scuba and snorkeling equipment is included free with your booking. You provide your height, weight and shoe size, and the operators fit you with different gear to try on at the harbor before you depart, so everything is ready when you board.

What time does the dive start and when do we return?

You meet at Kikiaola Small Boat Harbor at 7am and generally return to the dock around noon, making for a roughly five-hour outing that includes two separate dive sites and a surface interval between them.

How many dives do we do and what's the difference between them?

You do two dives at two different sites. Usually the first dive is at a deeper ledge or arch, and the second is a reef dive, so you experience different depths and topography in a single day.
