The experience

Six hours is enough to hit the high points without rushing. Mountain Top sits 2,100 feet above sea level and opens onto views that stretch toward the British Virgin Islands. The overlook itself is also a shop selling souvenirs, clothes and gift items. From there you move to Drake's Seat for more sightseeing, then down to Magen's Bay Beach, where the water is clear and the sand is white. The tour wraps with time in one of the island's two main duty-free shopping zones (either downtown Charlotte Amalie or Haven Sight mall), where you can pick up jewelry, T-shirts, spirits and souvenirs.

Your guide, Nami, handles all the driving in an air-conditioned vehicle, so you're not navigating or parking. The tour is flexible enough to shift if your interests change, and it works for groups anywhere from one person to fourteen. Pickup happens from your hotel, the airport, your cruise port or wherever else you're staying. The driver meets you there.

Magen's Bay Beach entry is not included in the tour price: adults pay $5 per person at the gate, and children under 12 are free. Entry to Skyline Drive and other attractions beyond Drake's Seat also cost extra. Everything else (the transportation, the air conditioning, the guide's commentary, and Drake's Seat admission) is covered.
