The experience

The tour picks you up and heads straight to Piriápolis, Uruguay's first seaside resort, built decades before Punta del Este became famous. You stop at Cerro San Antonio for views across the coast and the city below, then move on to Punta del Este itself. The day centers on the beaches and the landmarks people come for: the Port of Punta del Este, where you walk the promenade and eat lunch at a restaurant facing the water with grilled meats, fish, pasta and local wines on the menu; the Hand Monument on Brava Beach, the most photographed statue in South America; and Gorlero Avenue, the main shopping strip, where you have time to browse.

In the afternoon, the guide takes you to Casa Pueblo, the museum and summer house of Uruguayan artist Carlos Páez Vilaro, built into the cliffs at Punta Ballena. You can visit the museum, have coffee or a snack, and walk the grounds. The tour passes the Lighthouse of Punta and stops at the Fingers statue on Brava Beach for more photos. Weather permitting, the day ends with a sunset view from Casa Pueblo, one of the most recognized in the country.

The vehicle is air-conditioned and seats between four and twenty-nine passengers depending on which option you book. WiFi is available on board. Your guide speaks English, Spanish or Portuguese and can arrange the itinerary around your pace and interests. Infants can travel in a stroller or on an adult's lap, and service animals are welcome.
