The experience

Hands waving from across Sarandi street: our guide Lucía spotted us before we could even check the map. She had this way of making you feel like you were meeting an old friend for coffee, not starting a private city tour in Montevideo. We lingered by the Museo del Carnaval, where the air smelled faintly of old wood and something sweet (maybe those candied nuts from a nearby stall?).
