The experience

Lehbab desert lies roughly 40 minutes from Dubai by road. Your guide picks you up from your hotel or home, and on the drive explains facts about the city before you reach a rest stop where the vehicle's tires are deflated for sand travel. Dune bashing then takes over: you sit in the air-conditioned vehicle while the driver navigates the red sands for around 30 minutes, and the rhythm of the ride over the dunes is the point. Adrenaline and motion, not a slow tour. A photography stop in the middle of the desert gives you time to capture the sunset before the light goes.

Once the dune bashing ends, the route turns toward the campsite in the desert's middle. There, camel riding is short but real. You get on and ride. Sandboarding follows if you want it. Henna painting is available. Arabian traditional drinks (Gahwa) and dates arrive first, and then the entertainment begins: live music, two belly dance shows, one tanoura dance show, and a fire show. The BBQ dinner is buffet-style, with kebabs, hummus, salads, and both vegetarian and meat options, plus desserts and coffee or tea.
