The Experience

Pushing off from the marina, I felt that rush as we picked up speed. The water splashed up against my legs—cooler than I expected for Dubai. Our guide kept a close eye on everyone, making sure we were spaced out safely. He waved us over now and then to point out landmarks: there’s the sail-shaped Burj Al Arab, gleaming in the sun; further off, if you book the longer ride, you’ll spot Palm Jumeirah and Atlantis rising above the waves. For a moment, I slowed down just to take in how tiny cars looked on Sheikh Zayed Road from here.

We paused for photos with Burj Khalifa towering behind us—honestly, it’s wild seeing it from this angle. The whole city feels different from out on the water. After looping back toward shore, we coasted into the marina with wet hair and big grins. The whole thing took about half an hour (or an hour if you go for more), but it felt like we’d been somewhere completely new.
