The Experience

I’d always wondered if the desert would feel empty or full — turns out it’s both. The drive from Dubai was quick, but as soon as we left the city behind, I felt this weird mix of nerves and excitement. Our guide, Kareem, cranked up some music and joked about his “rollercoaster” driving skills. I laughed — but honestly, when we started cutting through those steep red sand dunes, my stomach did that little drop thing like on an actual coaster. Sand everywhere, even in my shoes (should’ve worn tighter ones). We stopped for photos just as the light started to soften — not quite sunset yet, but you could smell the warm dust in the air.
