What’s included

Your evening includes hotel pickup and drop-off by 4x4 SUV from anywhere in Dubai or Sharjah, an exciting 35-40 minute dune bashing session across red desert dunes, short camel rides, sandboarding fun, henna painting opportunities and posing for falcon photos. At camp you’ll be served Arabic coffee with dates before enjoying a full BBQ buffet dinner under open skies alongside live Tanura dance, belly dancing and fire shows—all without worrying about logistics.

“You’ll want to hold onto something,” our guide Khalid grinned, right before he floored the 4x4 up another dune. I wasn’t prepared for how much I’d laugh—half from nerves, half from that weird joy you get when sand sprays the windows and your stomach drops. The Dubai desert is so quiet between the engine roars; I could hear my own breath when we paused at the top, just in time for this orange-pink light to spill everywhere. There was a family next to us trying to take sunset photos but mostly just giggling because their scarves kept blowing off. It smelled faintly sweet, like warm sand and something herbal I couldn’t place.

After all that adrenaline, stepping into the camp felt like moving into another world—soft carpets underfoot, low cushions everywhere. Someone handed me Arabic coffee (bitter but good) and dates before I’d even sat down properly. My friend tried saying thank you in Arabic and got a big smile from one of the women painting henna nearby. We took turns on a camel ride that was bumpier than I expected (the camel seemed unimpressed with my balance), then watched a couple of kids try sandboarding—one totally nailed it, the other ended up rolling most of the way down but laughed it off.

The food came out just as the sky turned dark—BBQ chicken, lamb kebabs, salads that tasted fresh even in all that heat. There was this moment during the Tanura dance where everyone went quiet except for the music and you could almost forget how close Dubai actually is. The fire show was wild; I still think about those sparks spinning against the night sky. On the drive back, I realized my shoes were full of sand and my head full of these little moments—like Khalid teasing us about our “desert walk” skills or how everything felt slower out there. Kind of wish I’d learned how to say thank you properly.
