The experience

You're picked up from central Dubai and driven to Al Badayer, the highest dune area in the region. After a meet-and-greet and safety briefing on the Do's and Don'ts, you step into the driver's seat of a 1000cc Can-Am buggy: a machine built for the terrain. The guide leads the way on their own buggy, setting the pace and choosing the routes through the desert's most thrilling sections. You control the throttle, feel the dunes shift under the wheels, and navigate the rises and drops yourself. Water and a moment to settle in are built into the start, so you're ready when the engines turn over.

The ride itself runs roughly an hour of active driving, though the full outing stretches longer with the briefing, photos and the chance to catch your breath between pushes. You'll conquer each dune at your own pace within the guide's chosen route, taking in the expanse of the desert as you move through it. The guide stays ahead and nearby, leading but not controlling your line. This is your ride to steer. Bring a camera or phone. The moments are yours to capture and share.

If you book the camp option, the buggy ride is followed by an evening at a desert camp. You'll ride a camel, get a henna tattoo applied, and sit for a BBQ dinner under the open sky. The Tanoura dance and belly dancing show run through the evening, with shisha available to smoke. The full experience stretches several hours beyond the ride itself, so plan for a late return to Dubai.
