The Experience
The day starts with early pickup from your Istanbul hotel and a 90-minute domestic flight to Kayseri, where a driver meets you and takes you to Cappadocia to join the rest of the group. From there, the tour moves through five distinct landscapes carved into volcanic tufa. Zelve was a village inhabited until the 1950s, with early churches and homes visible across three intersecting canyons. Pigeon Valley earned its name from the dovecotes carved into the soft rock—a walking route through some of Cappadocia's most distinctive terrain.
Devrent Valley is known for its animal-shaped rock formations that resemble a natural sculpture garden, including a rock pillar said to resemble the Virgin Mary. The Göreme Open-Air Museum holds rock-cut churches from the 9th century, their walls decorated with colorful frescoes. Pasabagi, also called Monks Valley, contains some of the region's most striking fairy chimneys—the mushroom-shaped rock formations with twin and triple caps that are unique even within Cappadocia. A chapel dedicated to St. Simeon is built into one of these formations.
After the tour ends, you're driven back to Kayseri Airport for the 90-minute flight to Istanbul, where a driver meets you at arrivals and takes you back to your hotel. The whole day runs about 16 hours from pickup to return. Groups stay under ten people, and a licensed guide leads in English or Japanese. Lunch is included at a local restaurant; entry tickets to the historical sites are paid separately to your guide in cash (EUR, USD or TRY).

Do I need to book my own flights or are they included?
You choose at checkout. The "Included Flight Tickets" option covers both the Kayseri flights and airport transfers; the "Excluded Flight Tickets" option lets you book your own flights, and the operator will tell you which times to book. Either way, airport transfers are included.
What are the fairy chimneys and where do I see them?
Fairy chimneys are tall rock formations carved by erosion into the volcanic tufa landscape. Pasabagi is where the most striking ones stand—some shaped like mushrooms with twin or triple rock caps—and you'll walk among them as part of the tour.
Do I have to pay for entry to the museums and valleys?
Yes, entry tickets to Zelve Open-Air Museum, Devrent Valley, Pigeon Valley, Göreme Open-Air Museum and Pasabagi are paid separately. Your guide carries pre-paid skip-the-line tickets, so you avoid queues; you pay the guide in cash on the day in EUR, USD or TRY.
What's included in the tour price?
The tour includes airport transfers in Istanbul and Kayseri, the domestic flights (if you choose the included option), a professional guide in English or Japanese, lunch at a local restaurant, and transportation by air-conditioned vehicle between all five sites.
How physically demanding is this day?
The tour involves walking through open-air valleys and museum sites at your own pace, with no climbing or strenuous hiking required. The operator notes you should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness; the day is long (16 hours total) but the walking itself is manageable.
