The Experience
The tour starts before dawn: your driver picks you up from your Istanbul hotel between 4:00 and 4:30 am and takes you to the airport for a domestic flight to Cappadocia. Once you land, your guide meets you at the airport and drives you to Göreme, where the north Cappadocia tour begins. You'll visit Zelve Open-Air Museum—a sprawl of rock-cut churches, monasteries, and dwellings carved into the soft volcanic stone—then move through Monks Valley (Paşabağ) to see the towering fairy chimneys up close. The route includes Devrent Valley, also called Imagination Valley for its rock formations that resemble animals and shapes, and a stop at the Three Beauties rock formation. A pottery demonstration in Avanos rounds out the afternoon before you're transferred to your cave hotel in Göreme for the night.
Day two offers a choice: if you've booked the optional hot air balloon ride, you'll be picked up early and returned to the hotel around 8:00 am; otherwise, breakfast happens at the hotel and your guide collects you at 10:30 am for the south Cappadocia tour. This leg takes you through Red Valley, Cavusin Village, Rose Valley, and Love Valley, with entry included to either Kaymakli or Özkonak Underground City—ancient settlements carved into the rock by early inhabitants seeking refuge. Uchisar Castle, perched on a tall fairy chimney, offers panoramic views across the region, and Pigeon Valley's hiking trail winds through rock formations and cave dwellings. The tour ends around 5:00 pm, and you're driven to the airport for your evening flight back to Istanbul.
Inclusions cover the essentials: both domestic flights (economy class, 15 kg checked luggage and 8 kg carry-on per flight), breakfast each morning, one night in a boutique cave or stone hotel, a professional licensed guide, and entry fees to the open-air museum and underground city. Hotel pickup in Istanbul is included. The balloon ride is optional and booked separately; weather can cancel flights at any time, and refunds apply if that happens. Single-room supplements are available if you prefer not to share.
