The experience
The day starts with hotel pickup in Koh Chang and a transfer to the pier, where you board a shared boat with other snorkelers and divers. Your certified instructor briefs the group on equipment and safety before the first stop at a beginner-friendly reef with calm waters and colorful corals: the kind of introduction that works whether you've snorkeled before or never have. Tropical fish move through the water in schools, and the reef structure is close enough to see detail without deep diving.
Next is the HTMS Chang Shipwreck, a former naval vessel that sank and became a thriving habitat for marine life. Snorkeling here means drifting above coral-covered structures and watching schools of fish navigate the wreck's framework in clear water. From there, the boat heads to Koh Rang National Park, where the turquoise water and vibrant coral gardens form the third and longest snorkeling stretch. Lunch, juice, and drinking water arrive between stops, so you eat on the boat before heading back to your hotel.
The whole outing runs about seven hours from pickup to return. Snorkel equipment is provided. You bring only a towel and sunscreen. The boat carries both snorkelers and divers on the same trip, so the pace and stops work for the group as a whole. Weather or sea conditions can shift the schedule or change which sites you visit, and the operator will offer an alternative date or a different tour if that happens.
