The Experience
The day starts at a small port in Phuket's mangroves, where your guide meets you before the boat crosses to Koh Yao Noi. You arrive at the island's main gate with views of Yao Yai and the floating fish farms that dot the strait. From there, the cycling begins — 22 km through the quiet countryside, crossing rice paddies and rubber plantations, then through a village built on stilts over the water with views across Phang Nga Bay. The route is mixed terrain but the pace is steady; you're riding through working farmland and small settlements, not a resort strip.
Around midday you reach a beach restaurant for lunch — Thai food, included — and then the afternoon opens up. You can swim when the tide is high, walk out to a nearby sandbank, or just sit with the Krabi islands in front of you. A photo stop at Pasai Beach comes next, where the Phi Phi islands are visible on the horizon. The cycling finishes at a pier, and you board the boat back to Phuket, arriving at the mangrove port by late afternoon and transferring to your hotel.
Mountain bikes and helmets are provided, and the group stays small enough that your guide can adjust the pace. Snacks, water and soft drinks come with you throughout the day. If you're staying outside the main beach zones — Patong, Kata, Karon — there's an optional charge of up to 800 THB for pickup and drop-off. Children from age 8 can join (minimum height 130 cm), and vegetarian meals are available if you request them when booking.

What's the cycling like on Koh Yao Noi — is it flat and easy, or hilly?
The 22 km route crosses rice paddies and rubber plantations through countryside, so it's mostly flat terrain. The pace is steady and the guide adjusts for the group, making it suitable for all fitness levels as long as riders are comfortable on a bike for several hours with breaks.
Can I swim during this tour, or is it just a lunch stop?
Yes — after lunch at the beach restaurant, you have time to swim when the tide is high, walk out to a nearby sandbank, or explore the beach. The afternoon is built around the beach, not just passing through it.
Do I need to arrange my own transport to the starting point, or is pickup included?
Pickup and drop-off from your Phuket hotel are included in the tour price if you're staying on the main beaches (Patong, Kata, Karon). If you're elsewhere, an optional surcharge of up to 800 THB per booking covers transport to and from the port.
What happens if I'm traveling with children — can they do this tour?
Children from age 8 can join the tour (minimum height 130 cm), and specialized child seats are available. The pace and stops are designed to work for families, and you can request a vegetarian meal option at booking if needed.
Is the boat transfer to Koh Yao Noi included, or do I pay extra?
The boat transfer both ways — from Phuket to the island and back — is included in the tour price, along with the bikes, helmets, lunch and snacks.
What's the fishing village on stilts actually like to cycle through?
It's a working village built over water with views of Phang Nga Bay. You cycle through it as part of the route, seeing how the community lives on the water and getting the perspective of the bay from the village itself — it's not a tourist stop, just part of the island's real landscape.
