The experience

The boat picks you up from your hotel and heads out to Koh Lanta's dive sites, where the marine life shifts with the season and the depth. You'll make two dives in a small group with a certified instructor. A third dive is available for an extra charge if you want more time underwater. The sites hold barracudas, groupers, cuttlefish, black-tip sharks, mantas and whale sharks depending on when you go, and your instructor will brief you on what to expect and where to look.

The boat is one of the fastest and most comfortable in Lanta, and the crew serves a typical Thai meal between dives, along with tropical snacks and bottled water throughout the day. All scuba equipment is provided (tank, wetsuit, weights, BCD, regulator), so you only bring yourself and your certification card. The group stays small enough that the instructor can keep an eye on everyone and adjust the pace to the group's comfort level.

Hotel pickup is included, and guides speak English, Spanish, Italian, French and several other languages. The full day is built around the dives themselves, so the timing and the route are set by the operator, not something you arrange.
