Scuba Diving in Koh Lanta: Learn & Practice with a Guide
Thousands of species in one day: manta rays, whale sharks, clownfish and barracudas.
Scuba diving in Koh Lanta is a guided full-day class where you learn the basics on land, then practice underwater at multiple dive sites with an instructor present the whole time. Equipment, lunch, snacks, water and hotel pickup are included. Children from age 8 can join, and the guide speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French and two other languages.
The Experience
Koh Lanta's dive sites hold thousands of different species, and you'll see them because the class puts you in the water instead of keeping you on a boat watching. Before you go under, the guide walks you through the equipment on land so you know what each piece does and why. Then you're in the water with the guide at your side the whole time, learning the basics as you go and practicing what you've just learned at the actual dive site. Beginners are the point here — you don't need any experience to start.
The boat is a fast fiberglass speedboat that moves between different locations each day, so the dive sites change depending on where the marine life is showing up. Manta rays, whale sharks, barracudas and clownfish are common, but the water decides what you'll actually see. The day runs long enough to visit more than one site, which is what makes the variety possible. Lunch and snacks are included, along with bottled water and all the gear you need.
Hotel pickup is part of the booking, so you don't arrange your own way to the boat. The guide speaks your language — English, Spanish, Italian, French or two others — so the instruction is clear and the safety briefing is something you actually understand, not something you nod through. Children from age 8 are welcome on the dives.
