The Experience
The tour starts with pickup from your Moshi hotel in the morning or afternoon, then a one-hour drive to Chemka Hot Springs. The springs are an oasis of geothermal warmth bubbling up from underground, and the water is so transparent you can see the bottom even where the pond reaches 10 meters deep. The temperature is warm and refreshing—exactly the kind of natural pool that justifies packing a swimsuit.
You'll have plenty of time to swim, float and explore the water at your own pace. Your guide brings a lunch box and 1.5 liters of water, so you can eat in the shade of the trees or find a sunny spot along the shore. The springs also attract wildlife, so there's a chance to spot animals that come to the same water. After you've swum and rested, the drive back to Moshi completes the day.
