The experience

The tour starts at 4:30am with pickup from your hotel in Dar es Salaam. The 5-hour drive gets you to Mikumi National Park by 10:00am, leaving most of the day for a game drive through the park. At 12:30pm you stop at the famous baobab trees for lunch, then continue driving until the park gates close at 5:30pm. You overnight at Mikumi Resort or similar.

Day two moves to Udzungwa Mountain National Park, a 2-hour drive from Mikumi. The full day is a hike along the mountain trails where three large waterfalls drop into pools deep enough to swim in. You can cool off in the water at midday or simply walk the trails and take in the forest. Overnight is back at Mikumi Resort.

The return to Dar es Salaam on day three is optional: you can add a visit to a Maasai village to see the nomadic lifestyle, or stop at the snake park to see species found in the region. Both are separate from the tour price. The driver-guide handles all transport and timing across the three days.
