Step-by-step itinerary
Explore Swiss villages and lake cruise
- Meet at Torbogen
- Boat cruise to Weggis
- Explore Weggis village
- Visit Vitznau village
- Stroll through Gersau village
- Scenic lake cruise back to Lucerne
The Experience
You meet at Torbogen in Lucerne and board a boat for a 1-hour cruise across the lake to Weggis, your first stop. The village sits at the foot of gentle hills and opens onto Lake Lucerne with the Alps rising behind it. Weggis is known for its flower displays and lakeside promenade—you'll walk through the streets with your guide, who shares the local history and points out details most visitors miss.
From Weggis, you move on to Vitznau, where the harbor and traditional Swiss houses line the water's edge. The village church anchors the center, and the guide walks you through the historic layout. In Vitznau, you have the option to ride a cable car up for panoramic views of the lake and surrounding peaks (you pay 16 CHF in cash on site if you choose it). Back in the village, you continue exploring before heading to Gersau, the third stop. Gersau feels quieter and more tucked away—its historic streets and traditional houses sit against the mountain backdrop, and the village church is the focal point of the walk.
The return journey is a 1.5-hour lake cruise back to Lucerne, giving you time to sit on deck and watch the shoreline and peaks recede. The whole experience runs between 5 and 7 hours depending on how the day unfolds. Your guide speaks English or Spanish throughout, and the boat ticket is included in the price.
What’s included
- Boat tickets in 2nd class for both the outbound and return cruises.
- a local guide leading the village exploration in English or Spanish.
- insider tips about the villages, their history, and links to Switzerland's origins.
