The experience
The Aare River starts the ride: a tree-lined stretch of turquoise water that sets the pace for the morning. Your guide leads you out of Interlaken and along its banks, then heads toward Lake Thun for a photo stop at the water's edge. From there you'll climb to a 12th-century castle ruin, where the guide shares its history and walks you up the turret stairs if the conditions are safe. The e-bike motor handles the terrain. You steer and pedal at your own rhythm.
Interlaken's old town comes next, with the guide filling in the story of the Schaaal Bridge and the streets around it. You'll pass through Bönigen, a traditional Swiss lakeside village, then finish at Lake Brienz's shore with a hot chocolate that warms both hands and chest. The whole route takes about two hours of riding and stops, plus fifteen minutes to get fitted and ready at the start.
The e-bike, helmet, winter cycling gloves and waterproof poncho are all included. You'll need to ride a bicycle confidently: the e-motor assists on climbs and flats, but you're steering and pedaling throughout. The tour runs in winter conditions, so the castle stairs and some paths may be icy. Your guide will decide what's safe on the day.
