The Experience

You meet your instructor and driver in Interlaken, then drive to the launch site at Beatenberg. On arrival, the guide walks you through the safety measures and how the flight will unfold — it takes only a few easy running steps to get airborne with your pilot. Wind jacket and mountain boots are available if you need them, and all the equipment for a safe flight is provided.

Once you're in the air, the views open up: the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau rise around you, and below are the glacial-fed lakes of Thun and Brienz. The whole experience — ground briefing, flight and landing — runs about 75 minutes. After you land, the instructors show you the photos they took during the flight; if you want to buy them, you can arrange that on the spot.

What's the actual flight time once we're in the air?

The total experience is around 75 minutes from start to finish, which includes the briefing, takeoff, the flight itself and landing. The airtime depends on conditions and the pilot's route, but you're aloft long enough to see all three major peaks and both lakes.

Do I need any experience or special fitness to do this?

Tandem paragliding requires medium fitness level, but no prior experience — the pilot handles all the flying. It's not recommended for people with poor cardiovascular health or knee or leg problems. Steady footwear is essential, and a wind jacket helps.

Can my children come along?

Children from age 6 can fly, and those up to 11 must be accompanied by an adult. There's a weight range of 30–95 kg (66–210 lbs) per person, which the operator checks at booking.

What language will the guide speak?

The guide is live and speaks English, French or German, so you can choose the language that works for you when you book.

Are photos included, or do I have to buy them?

The instructors take photos during the flight and show them to you after landing. You can purchase them if you'd like a souvenir, but they're not included in the price.

What happens if the weather doesn't cooperate?
