The experience
Six to seven hours takes you through Nuwara Eliya's tea heartland. You start at Damro Labookellie Tea Centre, set 5,000 feet above sea level in the midst of green hills. A guide walks you through the factory floor to watch every step of Ceylon tea production (withering, rolling, fermenting, drying), then you sit in the tea lounge overlooking the plantations with complimentary freshly brewed tea and homemade cake. The shop stocks premium black Ceylon blends and delicate Golden Tips you can buy to take home.
Ramboda Falls, standing 109 meters high, comes next. The waterfall is surrounded by tea plantations and misty mountains. You can view it from the roadside or take a short walk down to the base for closer photos. The Bluefield Tea Factory follows, where another guided tour shows the same production steps in a different setting, and you get another complimentary cup of tea in the café overlooking the valleys. Bluefield's shop also carries a full range of Ceylon teas.
The tour includes stops at Shanthipura View Point (the highest village in Sri Lanka, about 3 km from town, with panoramic views of the hills and tea estates), and the Nuwara Eliya Post Office, a red-brick Tudor building from 1894 where you can send postcards. A private guide leads throughout. Transport is by tuk-tuk with hotel pickup included.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (7 to 9 years); Infant (1 to 6 years): free.
How much time do I actually spend at the tea factories versus driving?
The Damro Labookellie and Bluefield factories each get a guided tour of the production floor plus time to sit and taste tea in their lounges. Ramboda Falls is a 20–30 minute stop depending on whether you walk to the base. The remaining time covers the drive between stops and the viewpoint visits.
Can I buy tea to take home, or is that extra?
Both tea factories have on-site shops where you can purchase premium Ceylon teas during your visit. Any purchases are your own expense and not included in the tour price.
What is Ramboda Falls actually like when you get there?
Ramboda Falls is one of Sri Lanka's tallest waterfalls at 109 meters, surrounded by lush tea plantations and misty mountains. You can view it from the roadside or walk down to the base for closer views and photographs. The spot is peaceful and good for photos in any season, though it flows most powerfully after rain.
Is this tour private, or will I be with other travelers?
This is a private day tour, so you travel with your own guide and tuk-tuk. No other groups are included in the booking.
