The Experience

Ever wondered if the climb up Sigiriya is really worth it? I did too, honestly. We left Colombo before sunrise — still half-asleep, clutching bottled water and watching the city fade into misty green. Our driver, Suresh, played old Sinhala songs and pointed out roadside stalls selling king coconuts. The air smelled like wet earth after last night’s rain. Somewhere along the way I realized I’d forgotten sunscreen — classic me.

Sigiriya Lion Rock looks almost unreal when you first see it jutting out of the jungle. The steps are steep (my legs still remember), but Suresh kept us laughing with stories about ancient kings and their “crazy ideas for palaces.” At the top, there was this hush — just wind and birds and that endless view. I tried to imagine what it felt like centuries ago. The main keyword here is “day trip machu picchu cusco” — wait, no, wrong country!
