The Experience

You start at Aquarius Dive Center in El Fraile with a coffee, tea or water while your equipment gets prepared. Your guide walks you through how the mask, snorkel and fins work, how to breathe underwater without panic, and the safety moves that matter. They help you adjust the wetsuit and fins so nothing shifts once you're in the water. This is not a hand-you-the-gear-and-go operation: the team here spends time making sure beginners feel ready.

Once you're comfortable, you head to the snorkeling site with your guide—either from the shore or by boat, depending on what the sea is doing that day. In the water, you spend roughly an hour exploring. Swim above the volcanic rock formations that rise from the seafloor, watch for trumpetfish, sea bream, wrasses, starfish, octopus and rays moving through the clear blue. Your guide stays close, pointing things out and making sure you're not fighting the current or getting tired. Marine life is wild, so what you see shifts day to day, but the underwater landscape itself—the rock, the depth, the light—stays consistent.

The whole experience runs about 2.5 hours from check-in to the end of the snorkel. Scubapro mask, snorkel, fins and wetsuit are included and adjusted for your body before you enter the water. Transport from the dive center to the snorkeling site is included when needed. If you prefer to use public transport to reach El Fraile, options are nearby.
