Complete theory online, then one day in water earning certification—fast and efficient course.

The SSI Scuba Diver course in Mallorca is a one-day certification class where you finish the online theory before arrival, then train hands-on in shallow water and complete two open water boat dives to a maximum depth of 12 meters. Full diving equipment rental, the final exam, digital certification and diving insurance are included. A valid medical certificate is required, and you must wait at least 24 hours after your last dive before flying.

The Experience

You'll complete the SSI theory study and pass the online exam in the app before you arrive at Big Blue Diving. That prep work means the day itself stays focused on what matters: getting in the water, building confidence in shallow conditions, and then diving from a boat twice to put your new skills to work. The course is designed for beginners with no prior experience, and the structure compresses what usually takes two days into one.

Your two open water dives happen from a boat and stay within 12 meters depth—deep enough to feel like real diving, shallow enough to stay safe while you're still learning. All the equipment you need is provided and fitted to you: wetsuit, tank, weights, BCD, regulator, mask and fins. A live guide leads the dives and stays with you throughout, speaking English, Spanish, French or German depending on your preference. Diving insurance covers you for the day.

After your last dive, you'll need to wait at least 24 hours before flying—a safety rule to prevent decompression sickness. If you're traveling by air to reach Mallorca, plan your arrival with this in mind. A valid medical certificate is required before you start, confirming you're fit to dive. The course is suitable for all fitness levels, though it's not recommended for people with spinal injuries, cardiovascular conditions or pregnancy.

Top questions

What's included in the SSI Scuba Diver certification course?

The course includes full diving equipment rental, online theory materials, the final exam in the SSI app, your digital certification card, and diving insurance for the day. You complete the theory study and pass the exam before arriving; the in-person part focuses on hands-on training and the two open water dives.

How deep do you dive on the open water dives?

The two open water boat dives stay within a maximum depth of 12 meters, which is the limit for SSI Scuba Diver certification. The shallow water training before the boat dives helps you build confidence before going deeper.

Do I need any experience or qualifications to start the course?

No prior diving experience is needed—this is a beginner course. You do need a valid medical certificate confirming you're fit to dive, and you must complete the online theory and pass the exam in the SSI app before your arrival date.

What languages does the guide speak?

The live guide conducts the course in English, Spanish, French or German, so you can choose the language that suits you best when you book.

When can I fly after finishing the course?

You must wait at least 24 hours after your last dive before flying. This safety rule prevents health risks associated with diving and air travel, so plan your departure accordingly if you're traveling by plane.

Is the course suitable for people with mobility concerns?

All areas, surfaces and transportation options at Big Blue Diving are wheelchair accessible. The course itself is suitable for all physical fitness levels, though it's not recommended for people with spinal injuries or certain cardiovascular conditions—a medical certificate will confirm your fitness to dive.
