The Experience

The session starts on land. Your instructor walks you through diving equipment, hand signals and how to equalize pressure underwater—the mechanics that let you breathe and move safely below the surface. This takes about 30 minutes and happens before you touch the water. Once you're fitted with a wetsuit, tank, regulator and mask, you wade into the shallows with your instructor at your side. One guide stays with one diver, so there's no moment where you're figuring it out alone.

The underwater part lasts roughly 30 minutes. You stay in shallow water where you can stand if you need to, and the Mediterranean here is clear enough to see the rock formations and small fish moving through it. The point is not to cover distance or hit a depth—it's to get comfortable breathing through the regulator, moving your body underwater, and understanding how buoyancy works when you're weightless. Most people find the adjustment happens faster than they expect once they're actually down there.

Hotel pickup is included, so you don't arrange transport to the dive center. Bring a swimsuit and a towel; the center provides the rest. The group stays small, which is why the instructor can watch one person at a time. Children from age 8 are welcome, though the session isn't recommended if you have spinal injuries, cardiovascular concerns, or are pregnant. Public transport options exist near the center if pickup doesn't work for your location.
