The Experience

The afternoon starts at the diving center with a theoretical introduction. You'll learn how the equipment works, how to equalize pressure in your ears as you descend, and the other essentials that make the sport safe. A PADI-certified instructor walks through it all, answering questions before anyone gets near the water. This isn't rushed—it's the foundation everything else rests on.

Once the theory is solid, the group heads to the boat. It's a short ride to a quiet cove near Santa Ponsa, chosen because the water stays calm and the seabed is clear. You'll descend to a maximum depth of 6 meters, which is shallow enough to let you focus on what you're learning without the pressure (literal or otherwise) of going deeper. The instructor stays with you the entire time, watching your technique and making sure you're comfortable. The water here is colorful—you'll see what lives in the Balearic Sea—but the point isn't sightseeing; it's practicing what you just learned in a real environment where it actually matters.

Everything you need is provided: scuba gear, wetsuit if the water temperature calls for it, and civil liability and accident insurance. Lockers are available to secure your belongings while you're in the water. If you're coming from Calvià, pickup and drop-off can be arranged; otherwise, you head straight to the meeting point. You'll leave with an activity certificate—proof you've done this, and a record if you decide to continue diving later.
