Alcudia Catamaran Sailing Course with Certified Instructor
Theory ashore, then the catamaran responds to every move you make
A catamaran sailing course in Alcudia Bay with a certified instructor covers the basics of sailing — wind reading, turns, speed control and safety maneuvers — through a mix of shore instruction and practical time on the water. The light, stable catamaran design lets you progress at your own pace, and the course adapts to your skill level. Life jackets and lockers for belongings are included; children from age 9 are welcome.
The Experience
The catamaran itself is the reason this works. Unlike heavier boats, a catamaran is light and stable enough that it responds immediately to small movements of the rudder and sail — so you feel the connection between what you do and what happens on the water. Before you leave the dock, a titled monitor walks you through the theory: how to read the wind, the mechanics of a turn, how to control speed and hold your course. Then you get on the water in Alcudia Bay, where the conditions stay calm and forgiving while you practice.
Most of the learning happens by doing. Your instructor stays with you the whole time, guiding each step and adjusting the pace to match where you are — whether you're picking up the basics or moving into more advanced maneuvers. You'll learn the safety procedures for different sea conditions and how to act if something shifts. The catamaran's stability means you can focus on the sailing itself instead of fighting to stay balanced.
You can choose how deep you want to go: a single 2-hour session to get a feel for it, two days spread across four hours, or a full five-day course that builds real skill. All the gear you need is there — life jackets for everyone, and lockers to stash your belongings while you're on the water. The course runs in English, Spanish or French, and kids from age 9 can join.

What exactly will I learn in a catamaran sailing course?
You'll learn to interpret the wind, make turns, control speed and hold your course, plus the basic safety maneuvers for different sea conditions. The instructor covers theory first, then you practice each skill on the water with the catamaran responding to your movements.
Why is a catamaran better for learning than other boats?
A catamaran is light and stable, which means it responds immediately to rudder and sail movements — so you feel the direct connection between what you do and what the boat does. This makes it easier to learn progressively without fighting to stay balanced.
How long does a catamaran course in Alcudia take?
You can choose a single 2-hour session, a 2-day course spread across 4 hours, or a full 5-day course totaling 10 hours. Your instructor adapts the pace to your level and progression either way.
What's included in the course, and what do I need to bring?
Life jackets and lockers for your belongings are included. You don't need to bring sailing gear — everything necessary for safe learning is provided. Public transportation is available nearby if you need it to get to Alcudia.
Can children take the catamaran course?
Yes, children from age 9 are welcome. The course adapts to each person's skill level, so younger sailors learn at a pace that works for them.
