You paddle into sea caves and jump straight from the kayak into the water.

An 8-hour kayak and snorkel trip from Barcelona to the Costa Brava with a small group of up to 8 people, a professional guide, all equipment, and a picnic lunch. You spend three hours on the water paddling between coves and caves, snorkeling in the Mediterranean, and relaxing on the rocks before the return drive to Barcelona. The group size stays small enough that the guide knows everyone's name, and you get free photos taken on a GoPro throughout the day.

The Experience

You meet at midday in Barcelona and ride in an air-conditioned van to the coast with your guide and up to seven other kayakers. The drive includes music and time to settle in before you hit the water. Once you're on the Mediterranean, you spend three hours paddling between rocky coves and exploring small sea caves, snorkeling in the shallows, and hearing stories about the area's history and nature from someone who knows the coastline. The guide handles the route and the pace; you handle the paddle and the snorkel.

Lunch happens on the rocks — a classic bocadillo sandwich (meat, vegan or vegetarian) and a bottle of water. After you eat, there's time to float, swim or just sit on the beach and grab a drink before the group heads back to the van. You arrive back at the Barcelona meeting point around 8pm, which leaves the evening free for a shower and dinner out or whatever the city has on.

All the gear is included: kayak, snorkel, mask, fins, life jacket and a wetsuit if you need one. The van is comfortable and fits the small group without crowding. A professional photographer captures moments throughout the day on a GoPro, and you get the photos free — no upsell, no prints to buy later. You'll need to be able to swim and be reasonably comfortable in the water, but the guide works with all fitness levels.

Top questions

Can I do this snorkeling trip if I've never kayaked before?

Yes. The guide works with all fitness levels and the pace is set for the group, not for experienced paddlers. You'll spend three hours on the water, and the guide handles navigation and timing so you can focus on paddling and snorkeling.

What's the water like in the Costa Brava coves where we snorkel?

The Mediterranean water is clear enough to see the rocky bottom and small fish in the shallows. You'll snorkel near the coves and caves the kayak route passes, so you're never far from the kayak if you need it.

Is the 8-hour day trip really back in Barcelona by 8pm?

Yes. You meet at midday, drive to the coast, spend three hours kayaking and snorkeling, have lunch on the rocks, then drive back and arrive at the meeting point around 8pm. That timing leaves your evening free.

What happens if the weather is bad on the day of my trip?

The trip runs in normal sea conditions. If conditions are unsafe for kayaking, the operator will contact you in advance to reschedule or discuss options — you're not charged if the trip doesn't run.

Are children allowed on this snorkeling trip?

Children are welcome from age 7. They need to be comfortable in the water and able to swim, and they'll use the same equipment as adults (adjusted for fit). The small group size means the guide can keep an eye on everyone.

Do I need to bring my own towel and sunscreen?

Yes, bring your own towel and sun cream. Everything else — kayak, snorkel gear, life jacket, wetsuit, lunch and water — is included in the price.
