The experience

Pickup happens at 6 pm from your hotel, and the first stop is Little India: a neighborhood where you walk through shops and markets run by the Indian community, picking up souvenirs if you want. By 7:45 pm you're at Gardens by the Bay to watch the Supertree Grove light show, a synchronized display that runs nightly under the massive artificial trees, with reflections off the nearby Opera House adding to the scene. The guide is with you throughout, speaking English and pointing out what you're seeing.

From there you head to Marina Bay Sands SkyPark, the observation deck of the resort overlooking Marina Bay. The 360-degree view takes in the lit-up Singapore skyline stretching toward Indonesia's Riau Islands. This is where the city's scale becomes clear at night. A short walk brings you to Clarke Quay, the riverside entertainment district, where you have time to explore before the river cruise begins.

The 40-minute cruise departs from Clarke Quay and moves downriver, passing under historic bridges on the Singapore River. You end back near Clarke Quay, then the driver takes you back to your hotel.
