The experience

Your guide is a real Highlander who knows the region's history, folklore and landscape firsthand. You'll start in Inverness itself, learning about the city's river, canal and local stories, then head out to Loch Ness to hear about the area's past and the legend that draws visitors from around the world. A stop in Drumnadrochit lets you browse the gin distillery and gift shops before moving on to the next site.

Beauly's ancient priory comes next, and you'll meet Highland cattle at Robertson's Farm Shop, where locals source produce. Then comes the tasting at Glen Ord Distillery (the singleton operation in Muir of Ord), where you'll sample Scottish whisky. The walk around Culloden Battlefield is the heart of the day: your guide leads you through the ground where the Jacobites fought, explaining the history that reshaped the Scottish Highlands. The Clava Cairns, thousands of years old, close the tour. These ancient stones inspired the standing stones in the Outlander books and sit among some of Scotland's most evocative archaeology.

The tour is built to flex. If a distillery doesn't appeal, ask your guide to swap it for a castle or any other local attraction. Infants travel in a pram or stroller, and service animals are welcome. You'll ride in either a minivan (one to eight passengers) or a Luxury Landrover (one to three), depending on your group size.
