The experience

The tour begins at 8:30 AM with a drive to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, located near the city center. There you'll hear testimonies and learn the history of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi. After the memorial, the itinerary moves to either the Kandt House (which holds Rwanda's natural history, flora and fauna), or a campaign-focused site, depending on your interests. The guide walks you through each stop and answers questions as you go.

In the afternoon, you choose how to spend your time. Nyandungu Eco-Park and Mount Kigali both offer zipline, squad bike, horseback riding and archery, so you pick the activity that appeals to you. After that comes a visit to local galleries and markets, where you can see handcraft products from women's cooperatives and get a feel for daily life in Kigali. The full-day tour runs 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. The half-day option is either morning (8:30 AM–12:00 PM) or afternoon (1:00 PM–6:00 PM).

Your guide speaks English or French and stays with you throughout. Private transport picks you up from your hotel, and all entrance fees (museums, zipline, whatever activity you choose) are covered in the price. Bottled water is provided. The tour suits all fitness levels, and children from age 3 are welcome.
