The experience

Your instructor meets you at your Brasov accommodation and drives you to Poiana Brasov, a ski resort set in the Postavaru Massif. Once there, the instructor helps you select and fit ski or snowboard equipment matched to your size, weight and ability, then provides a jacket and pants so you don't need to bring your own cold-weather gear. Beginners get an appropriate gentle slope. Experienced skiers work with the instructor to explore terrain that challenges them.

The 2-hour lesson covers technique, safety and the tips that make the difference between struggling and flowing down the mountain. If you want to keep going after the lesson ends, you can practice on your own or book extra afternoon hours for an additional fee. Around 5pm, when the slopes close, your instructor becomes a guide: on the drive back to Brasov you stop at a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the city, then visit the White Tower, a high point where you can see the old town and hear how locals live and what daily life in Transylvania is actually like.

The instructor speaks English or German. Children from age 4 are welcome. Public transportation to the resort is available if you prefer not to use the pickup, though the included drive saves the logistics of getting there on your own.
