The Experience

The day starts with pickup at MIA Park and heads west toward the camel racing track, where you'll watch the animals under training. From there the route moves to Zekreet Fort, one of Qatar's few preserved historical landmarks, which shows two distinct phases of construction layered into its walls and layout. The fort sits on the coast and gives a sense of how the landscape has been inhabited and defended across different periods.

The main draw is the Richard Serra sculpture in the Brouq nature reserve. The work spans over a kilometer and consists of four steel plates, each over fourteen meters in height. Serra studied the topography before positioning the plates so they align with the land's contours and angles. The result is a modern structure that feels timeless against the vast, empty desert—the scale and precision are what make it work. You'll have time to walk around it and see how the perspective shifts as you move.
