The experience
The safari splits into two halves so you get the desert at its most dramatic and most serene. The sunset portion starts with dune bashing across Mesaieed's towering sand dunes south of Doha (the vehicle pitches and rolls as the sun casts a golden glow across the sands), then moves into sand boarding and photo stops before the light fades. You'll ride a camel through the quieter dunes as the day winds down. Water and tea keep you hydrated through the heat and activity.
The sunrise half means an early start, but it trades the adrenaline for silence. You cross the dunes again in the soft morning light and reach Inland Sea Beach, where the desert actually meets the sea: towering dunes drop straight into turquoise water near the Saudi border. It's one of the few places on earth where that happens. You have time to walk the pristine beach, take photos and simply sit with the view before heading back to MIA Park. The whole trip runs three to four hours total, with pickup and drop-off handled by the air-conditioned 4x4.
Insurance coverage is included while you're in the vehicle. The guide speaks English and can answer questions about what you're seeing, though guides in other languages cost extra and need to be arranged at booking. Children from age 3 are welcome. Infants sit on an adult's lap.
Is this one for you?The early start for sunrise means you'll be picked up before dawn, so choose this safari if you're willing to wake early for the payoff of a quiet desert at first light and the unique sight of dunes meeting sea. The sunset dune bashing is physically active, the vehicle pitches steeply, so it suits travelers who are comfortable with that kind of motion and have moderate fitness.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (5 to 11 years); Infant (3 to 4 years). Children under 3 can't be included in the booking.
What is Inland Sea Beach like when you get there?
Inland Sea Beach is a secluded stretch near the Saudi Arabian border where sand dunes cascade directly into clear turquoise water: a rare natural formation. You'll have time to walk the golden sand, swim if you want, and photograph the dramatic meeting of desert and sea before the return trip to Doha.
How much physical effort does the dune bashing part take?
Dune bashing is high-energy: the 4x4 pitches and rolls across steep sand slopes, so you need at least moderate fitness and a steady stomach. The vehicle does the work, but your body feels every dip and climb. If you have cardiovascular concerns, this activity is not recommended.
Do you get a camel ride on both the sunset and sunrise parts?
The camel ride happens during the sunset portion, after the dune bashing and sand boarding wind down. The sunrise half focuses on the drive across the dunes to Inland Sea Beach and time on the beach itself.
Can you book a guide who speaks a language other than English?
Yes, guides in other languages are available, but they cost extra: USD 200 per booking for the 3–4 hour trip. You'll need to arrange this at checkout when you book.
