The experience
You get picked up from your hotel in an air-conditioned 4x4 and driven 35 minutes into the desert. The ride itself is the core: you operate a quad bike across the sand dunes, moving at speed across terrain that shifts under the wheels. The dunes sit next to the sea, which creates a landscape you don't see everywhere: flat water on one side, massive sand on the other.
Beyond the quad biking, the afternoon includes camel riding, which is the traditional way people moved through this desert before vehicles. Sandboarding works like snowboarding but on sand, and it's one of those activities that sounds simple until you're actually doing it. As the sun drops, you stay in the desert to watch it set, then the driver takes you back to your hotel: another 35 minutes in the cool vehicle.
The guide rides with you and speaks English, Arabic or Urdu. Water and tea or coffee come with the day. Children from age 3 can join. Infants sit on an adult's lap. The total time, three to four hours, includes both the driving to and from the desert and the activities themselves, so you're not spending extra hours in transit.
Is this one for you?Book the private tour with camel ride if you want all three activities (quad biking, camel riding and sandboarding) in one afternoon. Choose the private desert tour if you prefer quad biking and sandboarding without the camel component.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English, Arabic and Urdu.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (3 to 10 years). Children under 3 can't be included in the booking.
Can I ride a quad bike if I've never done it before?
Yes. The quad biking is designed for riders of all fitness levels, and the guide leads the group across the dunes. No prior experience is required.
What are the sand dunes like near Doha?
MIA Park sits where the dunes meet the sea, so you see both landscape types at once. The dunes are large enough to ride across at speed, and the terrain changes as you move through it.
Is the camel ride included, or do I choose it?
Depending on the option you book: the private tour with camel ride includes it. The private desert tour does not. You pick which one suits you at checkout.
How long does the quad biking actually take?
The total time is three to four hours, which includes the 35-minute pickup drive, the activities in the desert, and the 35-minute return. The quad biking and other activities fill the middle of that window.
What happens if I'm not comfortable on a quad bike?
You can ride a camel instead, and sandboarding is a separate activity you can try at your own pace. The guide is there the whole time and can adjust what you do.
