The experience
You meet your guide at Farmacia Caridad in Fajardo, then drive in your own car in convoy to an exclusive rainforest access point deep in the forest, away from the main park crowds. A quick safety briefing happens before you enter the jungle. The hike itself takes about 15 minutes through lush trails where you'll see tropical plants and wildlife, and it leads to a natural river pool fed by waterfalls: the core of the activity.
Once there, you swim in the crystal-clear water, slide down natural rock formations that act as waterslides, and if conditions allow and you're willing, attempt an optional cliff jump or rope swing. Your guide stays with the group the whole time, managing safety and taking photos of you in the water. The group stays under 25 people. Snacks and water come from your guide. Life jackets are provided. You'll get mud and water on you (that's part of a real rainforest experience), so wear swimwear, sturdy closed-toe hiking shoes (no Crocs, sandals or flip-flops), and bring a towel. The return hike and drive back to Fajardo takes about 15 minutes.
Guides speak English and Spanish. Children from age 5 can join, though the activity requires at least moderate physical fitness and is not suitable for travelers with recent surgery, serious back or heart conditions, or epilepsy. If weather causes flash flooding and the tour can't run, the operator offers another date or a full refund. You'll need your own car to follow the guide into the forest. Uber and taxis are not reliable for this route.
