The experience

Our guide Marcus met us at Ralph's Food Warehouse in Fajardo that morning: he'd grown up hiking these trails, and it showed in how he moved through them, pointing out plants and telling stories about the rainforest that felt less like a script and more like he was thinking out loud. The group stayed small, just under fourteen people, which meant we weren't waiting around while someone caught their breath or took a photo. That's where the rope swing was.
