The experience
The adventure starts with pickup from your San Juan hotel and a drive through Puerto Rico's central mountain range to Rio Grande, where the rainforest begins. Once at the park, you'll spend four hours on a trail built specifically for this mix of activities: you cross hanging bridges suspended above the forest floor, rappel down sections of rock with full safety equipment, and ride the Tarzan swing. A rope swing that launches you out over the canopy before you swing back. The certified staff teaches you how to perform each activity safely before you do it, so you're learning technique as you go.
The trail stays in the foothills rather than deep jungle, which keeps the hike moderate and the views open. You get bottled water throughout, and the air-conditioned vehicle means the drive itself is comfortable. The park runs on a schedule so groups stay small enough that guides can watch each person and adjust the pace. This is not a race through checkpoints but time spent actually doing the activities and understanding how to do them well.
What’s included
- Bottled water throughout the activity.
- air-conditioned vehicle for transport to and from your San Juan lodging.
- safety gear for hiking and rappelling including harness and helmet.
