You start with pickup from San Juan in an air-conditioned vehicle and head into the rainforest's east side. A local guide leads a 25-minute hike through muddy terrain to the first waterfall, where you can swim, rope swing or free dive from multiple heights. The guide points out iguanas, guava trees, 100-year-old bamboos and the history of the forest itself. After another 15-minute hike uphill, you reach a second watering hole with a natural rock slide and a cliff jump into the river—this is the waterslide the tour is built around, and it is not a constructed feature but a formation you access by hiking into the rainforest.

Life jackets and safety equipment are provided, and the guide stays with the group throughout. The trail is pure nature, very muddy, and you should expect to be completely wet by the end. Wear sneakers, water shoes or hiking sandals that cover your toes and have a good grip; flip-flops and slides are not allowed because they become dangerous when wet. The hike demands good physical condition—you need to be able to walk more than 35 minutes on uneven, slippery ground. Participants must be between 5 and 59 years old, and the tour is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, pregnancy, or poor cardiovascular health.

The tour wraps with a stop at a small family-owned local restaurant serving authentic Puerto Rican home-style food.
