San Juan: Yunque Rainforest Waterslides & Rope Swing with Beach
Two Waterslides, a Rope Swing, and a River That Doesn't Require a Park Ticket
You visit two natural rock waterslides and a rope swing over a freshwater pool, with a guided hike through the rainforest and an hour at Luquillo Beach. The tour skips the official national park and uses local spots instead, which means shorter lines and a more relaxed pace. Transport, water, and life vests are included; lunch you arrange yourself at a local restaurant.

The Experience
Most people drive to El Yunque National Rainforest and spend half the day in the entry line. This tour skips that entirely and takes you straight to the local spots where San Juan residents actually go to jump off rocks and slide down waterfalls. You start at a privately owned area with volcanic rock formations, two natural waterslides carved into the stone—one gentle enough for kids, one steep enough to get your heart going—and a swimming hole where you can jump from the rocks if you want to. The water is cold and clear. After an hour or so of that, you move to the second stop.
A certified guide leads a short hike through the rainforest outskirts, pointing out the plants and trees as you walk toward a serene freshwater pool tucked into the river. This is where the rope swing is. You can jump from it if you're comfortable, or you can float, swim, or just sit on the riverbank and watch the water move. The guide stays with the group the whole time, and life vests are available if you want one. The whole thing feels less like a tour and more like you've been invited to a local spot that happens to have a guide.
After the river, you head to Luquillo Beach for about an hour to dry off and relax. The water here is calm, few waves, and the sand is wide. Lunch isn't included, so you'll stop at a local restaurant on the way back to your hotel. The day runs roughly four to five hours from pickup to drop-off, depending on traffic and how long you linger at each spot. Minimum group size is four people, and kids as young as three can come along, though they'll need to be comfortable in water and able to handle a short walk.
What’s included
- Your day includes hotel or meeting point pickup, bottled water, an air-conditioned vehicle, parking fees, and life vests if requested.
- A certified guide leads you through the rainforest hike and stays with the group at both water stops.
- Lunch is at your own cost at a local restaurant on the return route.
