A full day in Évora ends not with lunch but with three wines at a working cellar.

This private full-day tour covers Évora's monuments (the Chapel of Bones, Roman Temple, Cathedral and historic center), then moves to Cartuxa winery for a tasting of three Alentejo wines. Your guide travels with only your group, so you set the pace through each stop and have time to ask about the wines and the region. Transportation, bottled water and air-conditioned vehicle are included. Lunch and monument tickets are separate.

The experience

The day starts with a stop at the Cristo Rei viewpoint overlooking Lisbon and the river, then heads inland to Évora. Once there, you move through the city's monuments at your own speed: the Chapel of Bones, the Roman Temple, Évora Cathedral, and the narrow streets of the historic center, all part of the UNESCO-listed old town. Because this is a private tour, your guide adjusts to what interests you most and answers questions as they come up, rather than moving a group through a fixed schedule.

The second half of the day is the winery. Cartuxa sits at Quinta de Valbom, and the visit includes both the grounds and the cellars where you taste three wines: a white, a red and a rosé, all from the Alentejo region. The tasting is paired with local gastronomy. You can also see the olive oils made on-site and buy bottles or oils from the cellar shop if you want to take something home. The winery operates on availability, so booking in advance is essential.

The tour runs 9.5 hours total. Transportation is private, the vehicle is air-conditioned, and WiFi is available on board. Your guide speaks English, Spanish, Portuguese or French, depending on what you need. Pickup is included in the price.
