The experience
The day starts in Cascais, the former royal summer retreat on the coast, where you'll see the beaches and panoramic views that set the tone for the drive south. From there, the route climbs toward Cabo da Roca, Europe's westernmost point, where the land drops away into cliffs and the Atlantic crashes below. It's a short stop to stand at the edge and feel the scale of it, then back into the van for the next leg.
You'll visit the oldest cooperative winery in Portugal, where the guide walks you through the building and its traditions, and you leave with a gift from the day. Then comes Azenhas do Mar, a village that sits on a cliff above the ocean with white houses stacked down the hillside and a natural pool carved into the rocks. The setting is where the wine tasting happens: a curated spread of four wines (green, white, red and rosé) laid out with Portuguese cheeses, cured sausages, jams, bread, sweets and fruit. You eat and drink there for as long as the tasting lasts, then the tour ends with free time to walk through Sintra's Historical Centre on your own, browsing the shops and streets before heading back to your accommodation.
The guide speaks English, Spanish or Portuguese depending on your booking, and pickup and drop-off happen at your hotel if you're staying in Sintra, Lisbon, Cascais or Ericeira. The van fits the group comfortably, and the whole day runs six to seven hours from start to finish.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Infant (under 3).
What exactly is Cabo da Roca and why is it on this tour?
Cabo da Roca is the westernmost point of mainland Europe, where the cliffs meet the Atlantic Ocean. The tour stops there to see the dramatic landscape and the raw power of the waves against the land. It's one of the most striking natural features on the Sintra coast.
How much wine do you actually taste, and what kind?
The tasting features four varieties: green, white, red and rosé wines, each paired with the Portuguese food spread. It's a curated selection meant to show the range of Portuguese winemaking, not a long sit-down tasting at a winery bar.
Is there time to swim or go down to the water at Azenhas do Mar?
Azenhas do Mar has a natural ocean pool carved into the rocks and stunning views of the Atlantic, but the tour stops there for the wine and tapas tasting, not for swimming. You can see the pool and the water from the clifftop where you eat and drink.
What happens in Sintra's Historical Centre at the end?
You get free time to explore on your own: walking the streets, browsing local shops, tasting treats from cafes, or simply sitting in the atmosphere of the old town. There's no guided part. It's unstructured time before the drive back to your hotel.
Do I need to arrange my own way to the starting point, or does the tour pick me up?
Pickup and drop-off at your accommodation are included if you're staying in Sintra, Lisbon, Cascais or Ericeira. You'll be collected from your hotel and returned there at the end of the day.
