The experience
You meet at Armação de Pêra Beach, a working fishing village where the largest natural reef in Portugal shelters the shore. The boat departs with your group alone aboard, no strangers mixed in, and heads east along the coast. Within the hour, you pass Alporchinhos' golden sand near the Vila Vita Parc resort, then Tremoços: a sheltered bay so tucked away it stays almost untouched. The crew points out Praia do Barranco, where divers come for the marine life among the rocks, and Barranquinho, where the sand stretches nearly twice the length of the shoreline itself.
Praia da Marinha appears mid-route: the Michelin Guide lists it among Europe's ten most stunning beaches, and the Algarve's top draw after Benagil. Crystalline water and split cliffs frame the cove. From the boat you also see Malhada do Baraço, accessible only from the sea and known for exceptionally clear water, and Albandeira Beach with its signature arch formation in the shallows: less crowded than its famous neighbors. Praia da Corredoura sits at the far end, a wild beach hemmed by cliffs and two sea caves at opposite ends.
The Benagil Cave itself is the final stop: a massive sea cavern with millions of yearly visitors, considered one of the world's most remarkable natural wonders. The boat enters the opening and you see the full scale of the rock chamber and the beach inside. Your guide speaks English, Spanish, Portuguese or French throughout. A life jacket, guide, captain and insurance are included. Bring a camera for the light on the water and the cliff faces.
