The experience
The van holds only your party, so you move through Lisbon on your own schedule without waiting for other groups or adjusting to strangers' pace. A local guide leads you through eight stops: the ancient Jewish quarter of Alfama, the Senhora do Monte Viewpoint where buses cannot reach, Rossio Square, Bairro Alto, the Jerónimos Monastery dating from the 1500s, the Monument to the Discoveries, and Lisbon Cathedral in the heart of Alfama. The route covers the city's main historical districts and the waterfront landmarks that shaped Portugal's age of exploration.
The van is air-conditioned and equipped with bottled water for the four-hour tour. Pickup from your hotel or a central meeting point is included. At the Jerónimos Monastery, you stop for photos of the 500-year-old facade. If you want to try Pastéis de Nata (the Portuguese custard tarts made at the same bakery since 1837), you can add that as an optional coffee break, though it is not included in the tour price.
The guide speaks English and knows the culture and history of Lisbon and Portugal. The itinerary is fixed, so you know the stops and timing before you book. Small group means no more than a handful of people traveling together, which keeps the van nimble enough to reach viewpoints and narrow streets where larger tour buses cannot go.
What’s included
- Bottled water and air-conditioned vehicle throughout the four-hour tour.
- pickup from your hotel or a central location.

Top questions
What is the Senhora do Monte Viewpoint, and why does the tour stop there?
Senhora do Monte is one of Lisbon's highest vantage points, offering a panoramic view of the city. The tour includes it because buses cannot access the location, making it reachable only on a small group excursion like this one.
Can I visit inside the Jerónimos Monastery, or is it just a photo stop?
The Jerónimos Monastery is a photo stop in front of the building and its 500-year-old facade. Entry to the interior is not included in the tour.
Does the tour include the Pastéis de Nata tasting I've heard about?
Pastéis de Nata and drinks are optional and not included in the tour price. You can choose to add a coffee break at the historic bakery during the tour if you wish.
How many people will be on the tour with me?
Only your party travels on the tour. No other groups join, so the van is private to your group alone.
Is hotel pickup included, or do I need to meet the tour somewhere?
Pickup is included in the tour. The guide will collect you from your hotel or a central meeting point before the tour begins.
